Mississippi Moments

Jadyn and I had a little time to kill, between errands yesterday so we went to see a couple of rivers. We went to the Mississippi and Rum rivers. We also went to McDonald's. It was a very nice day. It was wonderful to take advantage of our mild fall weather.

I had fun taking photos of Jadyn and watching her enjoy herself at the Mississippi.

As usual, Sophie was nearby while I was doing this post. "Oh, I really MUST be near my mom when she's on the computer!" Do you see what I have to deal with? :)

Cat-Goat-Dog, Oh My!

Most of my posts are about Jadyn. Today's is about our other toddler, Sophie.....the cat-goat-dog.

I've thought before that maybe it would be fun to do a post some day about the cat. I thought I'd do a little post about all of the cute things she does. For instance, how she's the best kitty blogger and often keeps us company at the computer.

Today's post isn't necessarily about how cute she is. I just need to share my frustration about her weird habits. Maybe you have a weird animal too and you can sympathize with me. :)

Alan and I have often joked about what a strange little kitty she is. Sometimes we think she's part dog. Dog characteristics: Enjoys licking us. Searches for food under the table. She sometimes uses her paws to rake tidbits from underneath Jadyn's booster seat and onto the floor for eating.

She's more like a goat than anything. She eats or chews up all kinds of things. Sometimes I find it funny, sometimes I find it plain annoying.

She does these things in a heartbeat, sometimes before you realize it. Here are just a few of the things she's eaten:

*1 strand of ribbon from a toy wand
*3/4 of the string from a mini yo yo
*small wad of paper (I watched as she quickly ran over and gobbled it up!)

Things she's chewed up:

*Barbie hanger
*aloe vera plant (Does this often and probably is aware of the medicinal properties.)
*insulation foam
*plastic string from a necklace
*Jadyn's flower seedlings on the kitchen windowsill
*plastic clinging to the bottom of new refrigerator (insanely fascinated with it daily)

Has tried to eat, and we had to act FAST:

*Polly Pocket skirt
*tiny pine cone from game
*tiny tea cup
*plastic label on box

These are only the things that we KNOW about. Scary to think about what she may have eaten when no one was around!

I'll add a few photos of her cute self. How could something so cute do so many crazy things?

Notice me, please!

Maybe I should check to see if this bear still has a ribbon!

Deja vu

It does feel like I'm experiencing deja vu. Bryan gets a cold. Jadyn immediately catches it. Jadyn immediately begins sneezing, sniffing and coughing like a TB patient. Mom becomes the chief nose wiper.

This happened last month too. Hopefully other family members won't catch it.
Actually I am glad it's only a cold. It could be worse.

Deja vu? Yes folks, his trial has begun. I won't be wasting my time watching this. It seems like I (along with the rest of America) wasted too much time watching his other trial back in the day. I mean come on, who really wants to watch this?

Favorite Photo Friday

A new look in eyewear?

This is Jadyn when she was about 16 months old. She'd been with us just about 2.5 months. She was playing with her sisters and bubbles. Two bubbles ended up in front of her eyes and it looks almost like she's wearing glasses.

How To Make A Pizza

Today was "drop off day" at preschool. Jadyn did fine, and didn't cry while I was gone. When her name was called for her to come to the door at dismissal, she ran to me and burst into tears. She hugged me tight and cried. She said she missed me and I guess she'd been holding it in and trying to be brave during class. She said she was afraid I wouldn't come back.

This makes me sad. No matter how much we assure her that we will ALWAYS come back, she still has this fear. Poor thing.

Part of me wasn't surprised that she'd make this kind of statement. It's something to add to my prayer list. God can continue to bring healing to this little one's life.

Here's what we did after preschool. ~A very simple recipe for pizza ~

Pour pizza mix into a bowl.

Pour some hot water in.

Now stir it up! Don't forget to taste the dough, but don't be surprised if your mom makes you wash your hands after you lick your fingers.

Grease the pan and spread the dough out.

Spread a cup of pizza sauce on top of the dough and sprinkle on some cheese. Be sure to eat whatever falls onto the counter. :)

Put the pizza into the oven and then "hang around" while it bakes.

Now for the best part. Eat it up! Make sure your mom leaves it in a triangle shape. You don't want her to cut it up into bites! You are a big girl and you should get a whole piece now.

First Day of Preschool

Tuesday was Jadyn's first day of preschool. She was very excited to go. She was so happy to use her new backpack too. :)

Other than a little fall in the parking lot, torn tights and a scraped knee, it was a great morning.

We were so happy that her teacher is someone she had last year for one semester of our early childhood class. She's a very sweet lady, and great with kids.

Tuesdays are "parents in the classroom" days. Thursdays are drop off days. I hope our drop off goes well tomorrow.

Last Saturday we went to a parade to watch Bryan march with the band. Alan also walked with a group, in support of someone who is a political candidate. It was fun to watch for both of them.

Lauryn and Aaron joined us for the parade. It was fun to have them there, to share in the fun. They even took home a collection of candy. Goodness knows we always have quite a bit to take home. It was nice that they could share in that. It was a fun morning, and we had such wonderful fall weather.

What's a parade without clowns?

My Toes Were Cold

Jadyn: Look at my toes, Mom.

Me: You put Polly Pocket clothes on your toes?

Jadyn: Yes, my toes were cold.

Oh my goodness! Where does she come up with these funny ideas?

Into the Mind of A Three Year Old

Jadyn and I went to a shoe store today to buy her a pair of shoes. After much looking and trying on, we found a pair to buy.

The funny thing was what she said when we were on our way out of the store. She said, "Where's her bed?" I asked who she was talking about. She gestured toward the sales clerk. I asked what she meant. She said, "Where's her bed? Where does she sleep?"

Apparently she thinks the woman lives there at the store. How funny! I told her that the salesclerk has a house and she goes there to sleep after work. You never know what is going through the mind of a 3 year old. :)

After a trip to the library, we stopped for lunch at McDon*ld's. A man who worked there came by our table and brought her some McDon*ldland cookies. As she's eating a cookie shaped like Ronald McDon*ld she said, "Look, I gave him a haircut with my teeth!" I burst out laughing. What a funny girl she is! Those really funny moments certainly make all of the trying moments worth it.

Cell Phone Joy

Ahh, the cell phone. I'm so glad I have mine. I know we all sometimes wonder how we ever got along without them.
I recently had to upgrade to unlimited texting. We were having a bit too many fees tacked onto our bill each month, due to my texting habit. I am enjoying my unlimited texting very much, and it will be worth every penny. :)

It was time to see what photos were on my phone. Here are the ones I felt compelled to share....
"Can I go too?"
When Kaitlyn was packing to move back to college, Jadyn tried to go along too.

Last Sunday, Jadyn gathered 3 of her phones. She said it was so that she could call Kate.

Calling Kate.

I texted (Is that a word?) these 2 photos to Kaitlyn. She said, "Well why don't you just let her call me?" So we did that.

Even though Kaitlyn was away at school last year, Jadyn still seems to be a little confused about why Kaitlyn's not back from school yet this time. She keeps asking me when Kaitlyn will be back, or why she has to go to school. One evening last week, she asked if Kaitlyn could come for supper.

She's already drawn numerous pictures that we need to mail to Kaitlyn. I hope Kaitlyn is ready for art for her dorm room. :)

Here are 3 photos from our Texas trip...

This is Bryan, playing with Jadyn when we were at my parents' house. She is yelling in protest. I probably would too!

Here is one of Jadyn's funny faces. This was at lunch when we were in Oklahoma. I lifted this one from Kaitlyn. I hope she won't mind. :)
Ahh, is there a more sweet and peaceful thing to see in the car? This is naptime, on the way home from Texas. A parent's joy. :)

Here are 3 photos of the grandkitten. Lauryn sent these to me. She is just too cute! Sawyer is a very active kitten and she keeps Lauryn and Aaron busy.
I believe Lauryn titled this one something like, "What, no granola bars for kitty?"

Worn out

Hoping for a bath? Probably not.
